Youth Peace Summit on National Radio

During the early hours of March 8th The Youth Peace Summit featured on national Dutch radio. Following their public talk in The Hague Humanity Hub on March 4th, YPS-coordinator Jonathan and Leiden University College Executive Director Mirjam Brandt were invited in the ‘De Nacht is Zwart’ Studio for a 30 minute conversation on peace in times of conflict and war.

During this meeting different topics were covered, answering questions like ”What can we do to counter chaos in times of conflict?” and ”How do we improve social cohesion in The Netherlands?”

There was particular attention for the action young people can take to bring peace in this world. While there’s not a singular answer to a question like this, there are some basic statements to be made:

  • Everyone can do something – particularly young people.
  • No one can bring peace alone, it’s always good to connect to like-minded people.
  • Bringing peace doesn’t start with large gestures, rather it can start neary, and on a small scale.
