Creating the youth peace and security agenda

On Saturday the 14th, we took part in the seminar “When the system stops catching us”, bringing together young people, policymakers, and experts to reflect on gaps in support systems and how to address them. Organized by the UN Youth Representative in collaboration with the Dutch Youth Council, the Young Atlantic Movement, and The Westwing, the event centered on the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda and the role of young people in shaping more resilient and inclusive societies.

Following an engaging panel discussion, participants joined National Action Plan (NAP) consultations to share their perspectives on the challenges young people face today—and, importantly, the solutions they envision. We were proud to help facilitate two of these sessions, contributing to conversations that will directly inform future Dutch NAP development.

These consultations are a key step toward ensuring that youth voices are not only heard but structurally included in peacebuilding and decision-making processes, both in the Netherlands and beyond.
