Liberation festival in Den haag

The Youth Peace Summit recently had a stand at the Bevrijdingsfestival Den Haag. The bevrijdingsfestival is the annual Dutch Liberation Festival celebrating freedom, democracy, and peace after the liberation of the Netherlands during the Second World War.

Throughout the day, we spoke with many different people about peace, youth engagement, and the importance of dialogue in today’s world. These conversations led to many inspiring moments and showed how strongly people from different backgrounds connect around the idea of building a more peaceful future together.

One of the highlights of the day was the creation of dozens of hand-drawn peace flags, designed by people of all ages and backgrounds. Even the mayor of the international City of Peace and Justice, Jan van Zanen, joined in and created a peace flag himself.

It was an inspiring day filled with creativity, meaningful conversations, and connection, reminding us once again how powerful it can be when people come together around a shared message of peace.
